"EMERGENCY SCHOLARSHIP" INITIATIVE
(SAKER BAPTIST COLLEGE, LIMBE - JANUARY 2021)
When the results of the G.C.E. come out this year, the SORORS of the SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE will be more interested than usual in the RESULTS of CENTER #37 - SAKER BAPTIST COLLEGE!
They, like any other SAKERETTE, will be hoping EVERY SAKER GIRL passes the exam BUT, they'll be listening even more keenly for news on how A SPECIFIC STUDENT NAMED LOIDA, would have performed at the "O" LEVELS.
Here's why, in a nutshell:
Some time early in January of this year - 2021, it was brought to the attention of The SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE that there was a FORM 5 Student at SAKER BAPTIST COLLEGE who was about to be "sent home" because her fees had not been paid, as a result of the "ANGLOPHONE CRISIS"-induced financial hardship her parents were experiencing!
Her distraught and very concerned classmates had gone as far as donating their respective "allowances" to help keep their classmate and friend in school, but that amount was nowhere near sufficient. (BLESS THEIR KIND & COMPASSIONATE Hearts!!)
Their CLASS MASTER, Mr. RICHARD KECHEM then resorted to contacting any and everyone he thought might be able to help, and it is one such person who contacted a Member of the SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE, who instantly brought the matter to the group.
The group UNANIMOUSLY and GLADLY decided to step in and use the funds (SO WISELY) reserved for "POP UP PROJECTS" to cover the FEES the student was already owing, (arrears), and the rest of the fees due for the remainder of the academic year.
So it was that the sum of $1,500.00 was set aside to take care of the expenses, and on Wednesday, January 20th 2021, a STA Representative proceeded to deposit the sum of 700,000 CFA into the CAMEROON BAPTIST CONVENTION'S Account in Limbe to cover all fees owed and due, with the "change" being reserved for an "allowance" for a very GRATEFUL and RELIEVED LOIDA!
She, her overjoyed parents, an ecstatic Mr. KECHEM and a very awed and moved Mr. GHAWI SHOMSI, (Principal of Saker Baptist College), thanked the SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE for the kind and very timely gesture and now, it is only right that the Sorority turn around and THANK EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU who has ever donated to STA, for it is only because you have given and just keep on GIVING, that the group is able to fulfill its MISSION of MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
The heartfelt THANKS expressed by Mr. KECHEM, LOIDA'S MOM and LOIDA HERSELF in the VIDEO below are as much for YOU as they are for the SORORITY!
