Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship for professional empowerment in nursing education.
STA is pleased to announce the 2026/2027 scholarship for nursing education in honor of Marie Takusi Njowo.
This is the third annual scholarship intended to support students in an accredited nursing school program.
Marie Takusi Njowo (LVN, BSN, FNP) was one of the founding members of STA who passed away on November 17th , 2023. Marie was also a dedicated and selfless nursing professional who believed in the empowerment of girls and women through education and mentorship.
Goal
To offer financial support to deserving students to further their education in nursing. Therefore fostering Marie's vision of strengthening the position of women in their families and their communities.
Use of Scholarship
Scholarship awards are intended for tuition only and is paid directly to the nursing program.
Scholarship Award Amount
The number of scholarships awarded will depend on the availability of funds. Selected individuals will receive $1,000 each. The total amount and number of scholarships will be dependent on the availability of funds.

👩🏽💻 Eligibility Requirements
Prospective candidates must provide evidence of acceptance into an accredited nursing program, which can be located anywhere in the world. In addition to the acceptance letter, two letters of recommendation and a personal statement focused on a nursing career should be submitted. Letters of recommendation must come directly from the referee and must include the names of the applicant, and the nursing school of the applicant to be considered. Each applicant must provide two individuals familiar with their educational and personal backgrounds. These individuals must not be parents, relatives or friends of the applicant.
All applications must be submitted through the STA application portal between July 1st and August 31st each year.
📝 Basis of Award
The STA Scholarship Committee will select the candidates based on the merit of the application package. The scholarship package must include the completed application form below, the applicant's personal statement, and the names and contact information of two references. The references must be individuals with whom the applicant has an academic or professional relationship (e.g., teachers, employers, or principals). The scholarship will be awarded primarily based on financial need and academic qualifications; career goals, projects/accomplishments/educational plans.
